Senior Wellness Programme
Veterinarians have told us that as pets live longer, owners are
increasingly relating their pet’s health to their own. Other trends are
stimulating pet owners to ask vets more questions, including the
development of new diagnostic tests and treatments, pharmaceutical and
pet food adverts, as well as education on age-related pet diseases. In
addition, the widespread access to the Internet is helping pet owners
to do their own research.
After much discussion and research into these trends, we decided the
time was right to develop an updated Senior Wellness Programme for our
customers. In the past, we might have called this a “geriatric”
programme, however, just as with people, we know that early
intervention is important.
Programme Success
A decade ago, pre-anaesthetic testing started as a “new” idea, but
became widespread as vets and their staff implemented such testing into
their practice protocols. Today, wellness testing has this same
opportunity, and success involves a variety of factors including:

Belief by the veterinary staff that the programme is important.

Quality communications materials to the pet owner.

Training on how to present such a programme to customers.
