Influenza A

Influenza A is a zoonosis of significant concern due to its worldwide prevalence, numerous subtypes and reassortant nature. It presents with a wide range of pathogenic profiles, from virtually no clinical signs to high mortality, depending on the species affected and subtype involved.

Detection is critical to stop the spread of disease, maintain healthy animals and reduce the risk of pandemic influenza. Because of the variation in severity, species and subtype, effective monitoring and control requires a serological diagnostic test to detect antibodies to all influenza A subtypes.
